FYX nitric acid submerged pumps are available in three material versions:
Fabricated from high-purity aluminum, suitable for nitric acid with a concentration above 65% and a working temperature not exceeding 60℃.
Made of C4 special high-silicon stainless steel, applicable to full-concentration nitric acid, with a working temperature ranging from normal temperature to boiling point.
Constructed of 304L stainless steel, suitable for nitric acid with a concentration below 68℃, covering temperatures from normal temperature to boiling point.
Common corrosion-resistant materials for nitric acid pumps are as follows:
High-purity aluminum
High-silicon iron
PTFE
C4 special high-silicon stainless steel
304L stainless steel
The boiling point of nitric acid varies with different concentrations. Therefore, customers must provide the nitric acid concentration and operating temperature for correct pump selection.

Material Selection for Concentrated Nitric Acid Submerged Pumps
1. High-purity Aluminum
Among these materials, high-purity aluminum delivers excellent corrosion resistance to concentrated nitric acid at room temperature.Its disadvantage is that it suffers severe corrosion in concentrated nitric acid when the temperature exceeds 60℃.Therefore, high-purity aluminum submerged pumps are only applicable for nitric acid transportation with operating temperatures below 60℃.
2. High-silicon Iron
High-silicon iron features outstanding corrosion resistance to concentrated nitric acid under all temperature conditions.However, it is brittle with poor mechanical properties, which greatly limits its application in concentrated nitric acid delivery.
3. PTFE
PTFE is resistant to nitric acid corrosion at temperatures below 120℃.Nevertheless, its inherent drawbacks such as soft texture and easy aging restrict the wide use of PTFE pumps in nitric acid equipment.At present, PTFE is mainly used for mechanical seals and gaskets, while pump bodies are generally made of other materials.
4. Special High-silicon Stainless Steel
This material boasts the best comprehensive corrosion resistance to concentrated nitric acid among all options.Its anti-corrosion performance is superior to high-purity aluminum and close to high-silicon iron.Meanwhile, its mechanical strength and machinability are far better than both high-purity aluminum and high-silicon iron.
Although the material cost is relatively high with a higher one-time investment,it provides excellent corrosion resistance and long service life.With reliable mechanical properties, it ensures a high safety factor and convenient maintenance during operation.It effectively reduces unplanned shutdowns or achieves non-stop production, greatly improving the overall production efficiency of the production line.
5. 304L Stainless Steel
It is a common misconception that 316 stainless steel is always more corrosion-resistant than 304.This view is not objective.In nitric acid environments, 304L has better corrosion resistance than 316L.Molybdenum contained in 316L will reduce the anti-corrosion performance of stainless steel in nitric acid.
In boiling 65% nitric acid,the corrosion rate of 304L is 0.15 mm/year, while that of 316L exceeds 0.3 mm/year.304L is fully applicable to nitric acid with a concentration below 68%, covering operating conditions from normal temperature to boiling point.
