LHY Submerged Sulfur Pump is suitable for conveying liquid sulfur at 130–158 °C in sulfuric acid production processes of various scales. It is also applicable to other chemical processes requiring small flow rate and high head.
Due to its extremely high head, very small flow rate and exceptionally low specific speed, the performance requirements of the LHY liquid sulfur pump cannot be met by conventional centrifugal pumps, while vortex pumps suffer from unstable performance during operation. Therefore, an innovative technical solution is adopted in its hydraulic design, granting it unique advantages not possessed by ordinary centrifugal pumps and vortex pumps.
The pump head remains constant even when the flow rate of the liquid sulfur pump varies over a wide range. This feature makes it particularly suitable for chemical processes that require self-regulating characteristics of the pump.

Structural Features of LHY Submerged Sulfur Pump

  1. This series is a vertical insulated submerged pump. Both the pump casing and front pump cover are equipped with steam or heat transfer oil insulation jackets on the discharge pipe.
  2. The pump mainly consists of pump casing, impeller, front pump cover, pump shaft, elbow, discharge pipe, intermediate connecting pipe, base plate, bearing housing and motor frame.
  3. The pump adopts a star-shaped impeller, featuring simple structure and easy fabrication. Balance holes are drilled in the impeller to balance axial thrust, which is almost fully counteracted, greatly benefiting stable operation.
  4. Rotation direction is counterclockwise when viewed from the motor end.
  5. Installation dimensions can be customized according to customer requirements.

Sulfur-based sulfuric acid production is one of the important development trends in China’s sulfuric acid industry. The liquid sulfur pump with small flow rate and high head is key equipment for this process. To meet this development demand, we have developed the LHY series vertical liquid sulfur pump through joint efforts with experts from relevant design institutes, universities and our technical staff.
The LHY insulated liquid sulfur pump features simple structure, convenient maintenance, smooth running and stable performance.
The pump is made of 1Cr18Ni9Ti for liquid sulfur service. For other chemical processes, the following materials are available:
  • 304 (0Cr18Ni9), 316 (0Cr18Ni12Mo2)
  • 1Cr18Ni12Mo2Ti, 316L (00Cr18Ni12Mo2)
  • CW-2 (CD4MCU), J-1 (UB-6)
  • 20Cb3, Monel, Hastelloy B, Hastelloy C, Lewmet-55
For conveying liquid sulfur and other flammable media, YB series explosion-proof motors are normally equipped. Other motor types can also be selected upon request.
